The railway keeps running
The game uses real time. Scheduled services continue through their planned statuses, fares settle when services complete, operating costs and contract support accrue, and government grant continues while you are away.
A healthy simulation worker processes the elapsed period while you are away. When you next open a game page or use a game action, current information is returned; if the worker is unavailable, a concurrency-safe browser fallback can process a limited catch-up batch.
What can change while you are away
- Scheduled services can complete, be delayed or be cancelled.
- Passenger fares can be settled for completed workings.
- Operating costs, contract support and contract penalties can accrue.
- Government grant continues to accrue.
- Train condition, reliability, maintenance and disruptions can affect the result.
Returning after an absence
After an absence of at least five minutes, a Welcome back panel appears once. It reports the period away, credited income, charges, net cash movement and passengers carried.
Use the panel as a briefing, then inspect Finance, the timetable and events for the detail behind any unexpected movement.
Operator tip
Before leaving for a long period, check train availability, maintenance bookings and active disruptions. A reliable timetable remains the best protection for offline earnings.
