Real time means real time

With the default simulation settings, one real-world minute equals one game minute. A journey planned to take 60 minutes therefore takes approximately one real hour in the game.

The simulation worker checks for due work every real second, while the game shell requests fresh operating data every second. A worker check is not an operating minute: route operations advance only when their configured interval is due.

Operating costs and contract support accrue as services run, while passenger fares normally settle when a scheduled working completes. A cancellation before passengers complete any travel earns no fare; after a late cancellation, only fare already allocated to completed passenger travel may be recognised.

The railway continues to operate while you are away. After five minutes or more away, your return reports the elapsed processing performed by the worker or its safe fallback and shows one Welcome back summary of service results, costs and government grant.

Operator tip

Use the finance page and the Welcome back summary to assess the overall result. A route result is a recent operational snapshot, not a full-day profit figure.

What the overview tells you

  • Running trainsets, fleet size, on-time performance, passengers, revenue and average fleet condition.
  • A decision card whenever a new disruption is waiting for your response.
  • A live event feed and zoomable schematic showing routes, stations and individual train locations.
  • Today’s punctuality, satisfaction, cancellations and delay trends from measured services.
  • Busiest routes, active incidents, trains currently in maintenance and the current financial position.
  • The next departures from headquarters and live passenger queues across the network.

Today’s timetable

The control room shows the next departures from your headquarters, together with network-wide cancellation, punctuality and delay measures. Use these for a quick operating check.

For every individual working on a line, open Routes, choose the route and use its Today’s timetable section. It shows the trainset, live status, delay or cancellation detail and a link to the service record; long timetables paginate automatically.

A useful priority order

  1. 1Handle active disruption and train shortages first.
  2. 2Protect accepted contract obligations and imminent departures.
  3. 3Schedule overdue maintenance and restore spare cover.
  4. 4Review loss-making or poorly rated routes.
  5. 5Only then commit cash to expansion or optional upgrades.
