Up to 4 children accompanied by an adult holding a valid ticket or travel pass for the entire journey, can travel for £2 each at Off-Peak or Super Off-Peak times.
On train services operated by Gatwick Express, Southern and Thameslink across most of the Southern & Gatwick Express network.
They're available where the adult passenger is holding one of the following tickets, that is valid for the journey being made:
- Season or Travelcard Season ticket
- Single or Return tickets
- One Day Travelcards
- Advance tickets
These include tickets that are discounted with a Railcard (including those that give a discount on child fares, such as Family & Friends or Network Railcards), GroupSave or other discount card.
A London Freedom Pass holder can also take up to 4 children with them for £2 each, so long as they also have a valid ticket for the part of the journey outside the London Freedom Pass area.
They're not available if the adult is using:
- Pay As You Go (PAYG) with an Oyster Card, contactless bank card or mobile device
- keyGo
To pay for their journey.
As well as single and return tickets, a £2 accompanied child One Day Travelcard is available for journeys from stations outside of the London Zones 1-6 area.
But the £2 One Day Travelcard is only valid where the adult passenger also has a valid One Day Travelcard or Travelcard Season Ticket.
Travel is not permitted on other operators services except with the £2 One Day Travelcard where travel is permitted on the same National Rail and Transport for London services within Zones 1-6 as a normal child rate One Day Travelcard.
